Big Penguins everywhere

Humans are the ones that control almost everything in this world. We have the power to destroy many habitats. Leading to the extinction of many species."Scientists estimate we’re now losing species at 1,000 to 10,000 times the background rate, with literally dozens going extinct every day"(Biological Diversity). If Humans don't stop, at the rate we are going, there won't be many species left in this world. This colossal penguin wasn't killed by humans rather it went extinct because of natural causes

The tallest penguins that are living in Antarctica right now are the Emperor penguins being around 1.1 meters or around 3.6 feet. This is pretty tall for a penguin considering that most of them are really short. followed by the king penguin, humboldt, and the galapagos (NewScientist). The Emperor penguin is tall considering he is a penguin but it is not the tallest of the penguins to ever live. There was once a penguin that lived in Antarctica that was the size of a basketball player. "Palaeeudyptes klekowskii lived 37 to 40 million years ago.", "Acosta Hospitaleche estimates P. klekowskii was 2.01 meters long from beak tip to toes." (NewScientist). This penguin was 6.5 Feet tall, taller than the average American man.

It's amazing how many species were living in this earth. Now all we have, to remember these great extinct species are their remains that they have left behind. The rate Humans are killing species all we will have to remember all these great species will be their remains.

  1. I like your post, being that penguins use to be one of my favorite animals. It's amazing what species use to walk the earth and I wonder what species will be left when we're gone and many generations have passed. This was an interesting post and I'm curious about what other animals had ancestors that were the size of humans.
